When we were co-social chairs of our co-ed house Amarna, campus event rules limited alcohol to specific categories: beer, wine, or cocktails at a given event, and definitely nothing resembling a punch. Our creativity refused to be so boxed in, and we made sangría an option (and a popular one) at our Wine and Cheese parties.
Occasionally, campus security would do a walk-through. We would get a short warning and quickly recruit a house member to carry a stockpot full of sangría into their bedroom.
As a memento of those days, we stashed some sangría in a hidden spot by the stream, down the moss path for our guests to enjoy.
(Though we ended up going there ourselves after the ceremony to take a “moment” that ended up lasting for most of cocktail hour…)
